Xerostomia, commonly known as dry mouth, is a condition in which the salivary glands decrease or stop saliva production. The most common causes are from various medical conditions, cancer treatments (especially radiation to the neck or face), and some medications. Dry mouth can vary in severity and may cause any or all of these:
Depending on the severity,
there are many treatments available, from strict home care regimens with fluoride
to prescribed saliva substitutes. Consult Dr. Kavouklis
